Roadway Names Support
Roadway Names Support
Below, is a zip file of all supported parishes who have submitted their roadway
names in the appropriate formats. With this information, officers filling out reports
will be given a drop down menu of the available roadways in their area to help provide
accurate, standardized crash report information.
If you do not see a completed list of roadway names for your parish, feel free to
obtain an accurate listing of all the streets in your parish and submit them to
the HSRG so they can continue expanding the roadway names throughout the state.
The format of the information sent to the HSRG is flexible, but the details of what
is expected is as follows:
- Provide an accurate and unique street list for the entire parish in question (no
duplicates please!).
- Provide the information in any sort of delineated file structure such as excel,
access, text, etc. Any format is fine as long as the file's structure is understandable.
- Provide the list formatted in a way that can be easily reformatted (depends on the
file type, etc.)
- Fields supported are the Street Direction, Street Name, and Street Type.
- If using a flat file, please include a description of how to properly parse the
text into a useable form.
- We do not support the entering of the Street Number via this list.
- The preferred format is an excel spreadsheet with columns seperating Direction,
Street Name, and Street Type for all streets.
Note: There is a difference for all three fields used. For example N Ambassador
Caffery PKWY, S Ambassador Caffery PKWY, and Ambassador Caffery PKWY are entirely
separate entries.
Also note: Street type abbreviations will be utilized, unless
they are completely indiscernible at which point the HSRG will replace them with
either their own abbreviations, or if necessary, the entire word if necessary. The
HSRG will try to adhere to the Postal Service Standard Suffix Abbreviations listed
on the USPS Website (located in the far right column).
Once the HSRG has received
your list, they will return a file that should be placed in the same directory as
the LACRASH system. Simply copy the file into the appropriate directory on all client
machines which will be utilizing the roadway name listing.
The default location
for the aforementioned file is
C:\Program Files\LSU\LACRASH\LACRASH Client 1.9\Roads\
If you choose to download all parishes, remember to unzip the file into the same
location mentioned above. These files should not be in the folder typically created
during the extraction process.
Note: All Parishes are now being supported using
information provided by 2006 Census Data. You will only need to submit your own
road file information if you have an updated listing or you would like to rebuild
the list using only the roads which apply to your specific agency.
